Becoming a Member
The Bible says that Jesus is building His Church. We believe that for this to happen, strong healthy Churches need to be established which express the love and power of Jesus to their community. God has called RCF to be a town wide Church serving Rugby, the UK, and the nations of the world.
A strong Church is only built when people come together to commit themselves to Jesus and to one another with all their heart and soul. That is what membership in RCF is all about.
Membership is not merely a formality, but rather an important spiritual decision. We fully accept that God will not lead every Christian to join us; we are but a part of God’s church in Rugby. However, it is mutually helpful for the Pastors and Elders to know who we are working with. It is important to identify the ‘committed Church’ from the ‘Sunday crowd’ so that we can continue to build Church together on a strong and healthy basis.
Although every person who receives salvation through Jesus Christ becomes a positional member of the family of God, the Membership process is designed to lead individuals from ‘positional membership’ to participating membership, wherein they become actively involved in building the body of Christ at RCF.
We pray the Membership process will identify the ‘pillar people’, who like our Lord, will live to serve, and in serving find fulfilment and joy.
Informal new Membership evenings are held regularly when the Pastors and Elders explain all that’s involved in Membership at RCF, and time is given to ask questions. I believe that belonging to a local church in membership is a privilege. There is no pressure on you. We are pleased that you are giving time to ask God if RCF should be your Spiritual home.
