We are very glad to report that we are growing in numbers. But we should say a few words about this:
1. It is by the grace of God that we grow - it is God's work not ours to grow the church. It is our job to seek to please God and follow His word and direction, and if we are a busy church full of people who don't actually know Jesus Christ, we will have failed in our mission from God, which is to make disciples of Jesus. In other words, a busy, full church, does not necessarily mean we've got it right. We must be more than an entertainment centre or social club. We must be a place where people of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds come to, and grow in their, faith and love of Jesus Christ. We expect and believe for radical encounters with God - where peoples' lives are changed for ever. Although we are still very much individuals, we should be developing a corporate identity which results in unity, comradeship and commitment to the mission of Christ.
2. We don't want you to 'settle' in. Silt settles in to the bed of a river and eventually clogs it up. Yes, we want you to be comfortable, welcomed and loved, but we also want you to be active for Christ; He gives you work to do. We expect that you will count it as a privilege to be working for the Kingdom of God - as his emissaries on earth. If you are a Christian, you have a high calling and you have a purpose, and this calling and purpose impact on eternity.
