Men's Ministry

There has been no greater man than Jesus Christ and He was a "man's man". He had twelve men who were especially close to him, with different professions from public sector workers like Matthew, political activitists like Simon to skilled manual workers like Peter. Peter was impetuous; Thomas had doubts; Philip was thoughtful; Mark was a young man and Bartholemew was probably quite religious. He managed to challenge them all! They had "eureka" moments when they made huge steps in their faith in Jesus and they had slow transformations where their characters were completely transformed as they saw Him work and as they contemplated His message. It would be less than honest to not say that He also attracted people who hoped to gain by their association with Him. The well known Judas, who eventually betrayed Him, was obviously intrigued by Jesus and couldn't quite work Him out. The point is that Jesus had a profound affect on them all, even Judas had his moment of "revelation". Whoever they were Jesus welcomed them, challenged them and changed them. He will do that to you too, whatever your race, profession, personality and family circumstances, if you let Him do it.

Did something go wrong? There seems to be a popular perception that Church is for women. Well, of course it is, but there should be balance. God has instituted the family, and has called men 'to step up" to facing their responsibilities in the family and within church. Which is very much where this ministry is aiming for. For men who are committed to the call of God in their own lives and then who live in a way to earn and have respect in: their families; the world of work and leisure, all whilst contributing positively to the work of the church, without compromising their manliness.

We want to see men becoming more involved with their families, the church, and with each other. We plan our events to facilitate this. You don't have to be a Christian. Men, both young and old are invited to our activities. We aim to provide a no-obligation, non-threatening and open environment where your doubts and objections can be raised in honesty and will be treated with respect.

We want to show men the love of Jesus in a real way, and help take away any preconceptions they may have about “Church”.

We meet bi-monthly for breakfast, at which we have various speakers. We also have other events such as Christmas meals, days out (for example to the Severn Valley Railway).

The Mens' Ministry has grown over the past few years, and now has taken another step forward by joining in events organised for the men of other churches in Rugby. The first such event was a breakfast meal followed by watching England play their first match in the Rugby World Cup. This was organised in conjunction with the Revive group of Churches in Rugby. It was really good to see men from other churches meet together in this way. There is also a Skittles Evening for men, again organised through Revive.
